Carlstadt, N.J. - Cedar Stars Rush is excited to welcome back Anthony Nixon as Head Coach for the 2021 USL League Two season. Returning to his second season at the helm, Nixon brings with him USSF A, UEFA B, Advanced National, and FA Level 2 and 1 licenses.
“Our mission is to develop players to have a high level of comfort and confidence on the ball and to have a high rate of success in performing their role on the team, at all levels of the game,” stated Nixon. “With that in mind, I could not imagine a more fulfilling situation to practice that theory than with Cedar Stars Rush as we help the roster graduate to the next level of the game.”
Coach Nixon became a part of the Cedar Stars Academy staff in 2014 and worked his way to Academy Director for CSA Bergen. As Head Coach in CSR’s inaugural season in 2019, Nixon led the club to a 4-6-4 record. However, it is his understanding of the academy that excites him most about this specific opportunity.
“A successful season will see the club qualify for the playoffs while integrating youth players from our Academy into the USL League Two first team,” explained Nixon. “Throughout the season, we will implement our playing style and club philosophy as we provide players with a pathway to professional soccer.”
Nixon, a native of England, boasts an impressive youth career that featured time with Marine Football Club and Accrington Stanley Football Club. Following his playing career, Nixon gained coaching experience with Everton and Blackburn Rovers’ academies before making the move to the US.
