Cedar Stars Rush Upset New York Red Bull U23 for First Win of Season

Teaneck, NJ  (May 25, 2019) - Cedar Stars Rush faced off against Red Bull’s U23 at home for Memorial Day weekend this past Saturday.

Cedar Stars Rush started the match off with a bang and scored the opening goal in the 3rd minute. A perfect over the top pass into the box by Michael Crenstil #24 led to a chip over the Red Bull’s U23 keeper by Noah Amissah #9.

With the first half coming to an end, the Red Bull’s U23 forward Macky Diop #9 was able to convert a header into the goal to tie the game 1-1 in the 44th minute.  

The Cedar Stars Rush were quick to respond with a goal of their own in the 54th minute on a shot off the right post from forward Kian Alberto #15 in the 54th minute.

With the game coming to a close, Red Bull’s U23 defender CC Oche #21 was ejected with a red card in the 90th minute.

In a game dominated with Red Bull’s U23 shots and scoring attempts, the Cedar Stars Rush pulled through and emerged victorious. A stellar performance by Cedar Stars Rush goalkeeper Aleks Gogic #1 kept the home team in the game with his 13 saves. The Cedar Stars Rush lineup fought hard to earn the victory over the division favorites, Red Bull U23.

The Cedar Stars Rush look to start a winning streak this Tuesday, May 28th against Reading United AC at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ.
